Around the world in 80 days is a thrilling journey set in 1872-1873. What started as a bet, turned into a serious of life changing events : three friends, one challenge, a belief and an adventure of a lifetime!
Around the world in 80 days is about a man called Mr Phileas Fogg and his partner, Passepartout’s journey around the world. It begins when Mr Fogg makes a bet with his friends to travel around the world in 80 days. If not successful, Mr Fogg would have to give up half of his fortune! On this journey he comes across a series of obstacles that changes the course of his life. He braved storms, reckless murderers and most importantly found who he truly was!
My favourite character is Passepartout because I love his personality that turns grim situations into contented moments. He is really funny and makes me laugh, such as when he gets involved in the quirks of different cultures.
I loved reading this book – the language used by Jules Verne got my imagination flowing and it made me feel adventurous just reading about Mr Fogg’s adventures.
The only thing I didn’t really like was the starting of the book as I thought it was too slow but as the book carried on, the story picked up pace.
But who knows, maybe you’ll love this book and the pace it’s set at!
The real questions for you to find out is…
Did he succeed in this challenge, or go on to lose half of his fortune?
