Do you believe in ghosts?

Heart-stopping. Chilling. Deathly

What starts as a business trip turns into a haunting, everlasting nightmare…

It all starts with Mr Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, when he is summoned to attend Mrs Drablow’s funeral. When he reaches there, he catches a glimpse of a peculiar woman dressed in black. As anyone would, he thinks nothing of it. However, deep secrets are revealed, strange rumours begin to unfold, and eyes are peeled for the next reveal. Tragedy is inevitable – a fate that no one could predict.

My favourite part was when Mr Kipps and Spider went for a walk around the house. When they returned, Mr Kipps looked towards the house, but out of the corner of his eye he saw a mysterious, cloaked figure. That moment sent shivers down my spine.

My favourite character is Spider. Spider is Mr Kipps’ faithful dog companion. I like Spider because of her loyalty and devotion towards her master, as well as her sense of adventure. She is always willing to take risks for the people close to her, such as when she protected Mr Kipps from multiple dangers.

The plot of the story was great, and it really got me involved with the characters. It was so scary that it made me look over my shoulder to check for mysterious beings. Overall, I think this book was amazing. It helped me explore a new area of writing and showed me how to truly draw the reader in and make events feel genuinely bloodcurdling. I recommend this book to 10 and above. Anyone who is up for a scare and loves a good book has to read THE WOMAN IN BLACK!
