An unforgettable night: monsters spawned , undercover operations, and two siblings against the world.
Alpine Heights, sounds like a clean, fresh and welcoming place – a place where all your worries are whisked away. Well, it is the complete opposite. Meet Kyle and Lauren. They live in Alpine Heights, and their life has been normal so far, until one day they come home to discover the truth about their hated stepfather. The truth is bewildering . From that day on, nothing was ever the same. They come across fearless creatures, intimidating soldiers, and even more danger.
Will they be able to safe themselves, or will their lives be snatched away?
My favourite part in this book is when Kyle and Lauren find themselves trapped in a tower block and have to use their minds to work out what to do next.
My favourite character is Lauren because she is always really brave and, at the end, curious, and doesn’t want to leave any question unanswered. She wants to learn how the horrific experience had happened and how she almost got taken.
Overall, I don’t really think that this book was for me. I thought it was quite a short story and would have preferred if the author had used a different ending and not left the story on a cliff-hanger. However, just because I didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean you won’t. I recommend this book to people who enjoy mystery and action books, as well as readers aged 9 and above, as the style of writing would be more suitable to that age group.
